Registration Rules for the 8th World Mahjong Championship
I. General Provisions
To ensure that the registration process for the 8th World Mahjong Championship (hereinafter referred to as "the Championship") is conducted in an orderly and standardized manner, these detailed rules are formulated in accordance with the Official Regulations of the 8th World Mahjong Championship and relevant provisions of the Organizing Committee.
II. Participation Quotas
Due to venue capacity constraints, the participation quotas are allocated as follows:
European players: no fewer than 56 quota places;
Chinese players (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan): no fewer than 56 quota places;
Players from other countries and regions: 100 quota places.
III. Registration Priority Rules
Outstanding players recommended by member organizations of the World Mahjong Organization (WMO) shall be given priority for registration.
Registration is open to all players who comply with the international Mahjong Competition Rules (MCR). Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and will be closed once the quota is reached.
The registration fee must be paid in full to the designated account of the Organizing Committee before registration can be accepted. Failure to remit the fee to the designated account by the stipulated time will be deemed as automatic forfeiture of the registration qualification.
IV. Eligibility and Registration Procedures
Eligibility: All Mahjong enthusiasts who abide by the international Mahjong Competition Rules (MCR) promulgated by the WMO and comply with the Official Regulations of this Championship are eligible to register. Applicants may register through the recommendation of a WMO member organization in their country/region, or may apply directly to the Organizing Committee if there is no member organization in their area.
Application Materials: Applicants are required to provide: full name, gender, nationality/region, team name (if any), a copy of a valid identification document, and a recent electronic photo.
Registration Deadline: September 20, 2026 (subject to the Organizing Committee's receipt of complete materials and the registration fee). Late applications will not be accepted.
V. Ranking Method
Individual Ranking: Based on the total scores of each individual player.
Team Ranking (4-player team): Based on the total combined scores of the four players in each registered team.
National Team Ranking: Based on the total combined scores of the top four players from each country/territory (by nationality).
VI. Other Matters
Participants are responsible for arranging their own visas and insurance. The Organizing Committee may provide necessary assistance upon request.
When remitting the registration fee to the designated account of the Organizing Committee, participants must clearly indicate the registrant's name in the remittance note.
The Organizing Committee reserves the right of final interpretation of these rules. Matters not covered herein will be announced in subsequent notices by the Organizing Committee.
